Hey there!

Today's post is all about a very special mini album packed full of family photos. This summer, my sister and brother-in-law celebrated their 25th Anniversary, which is such an amazing accomplishment! I am so happy to have this special keepsake to remember the fun day we had together as a family.

This album is larger than my usual... it's 7 x 8 and it perfectly fits all of my 4x6 photos inside.

Standing Photo Display

Hello again!

First of all, I apologize for not posting in awhile, but I do have a really fun project to share with you all today!

I've had this idea for a Standing Photo Display in my sketchbook for some time now (I usually keep a sketchbook nearby so that when ideas pop in my head - I can quickly write them down, or sketch them out before I forget), and I am so happy I finally made the project.

I wanted a decorative piece that will look lovely sitting around the home, and yet it is still functional with lots of photos inside.

The idea here is to stagger the pages in size so that you can embellish to your hearts content. As you flip through the book, you will find the photo mats hidden under each page, as you can see here:

Each page is of chipboard, and then covered front and back with Designer Paper of your choice. Mine was the "Butterfly Garden" paper collection by Pink Paislee.

Dimensions:

1st Page: 4 x 5
2nd Page: 5 1/2 x 5
3rd Page: 7 x 5
4th Page: 8 1/2 x 5
5th Page: 10 x 5

Back Cover: 9 1/2 x 5

I am not including dimensions for the photo mats just because you may want to adjust those to fit your particular photos. I just made sure mine were placed directly behind the page on top of it so that they were hidden from view.

New 12 x 12 Layouts & Scrapbook Retreat

Hello my scrappy friends!
In a previous post, I mentioned that I was going to a Scrapbooking Retreat with my sister, friends and extended family! It was so much fun! There was alot of talking, alot of laughing, and a little bit of scrappin' :-) lol! But, I was able to finish 2 - 12x12 layouts as well as the start of a family mini album.

Here's my first layout:

I focused on this beautiful picture of my niece. I used the Prima Moulin Rouge paper collection along with lots of Prima flowers. The key to this layout was the layering, I think. I am a big fan of paper layering - it really adds so much dimension and depth to your layout!

The chipboard pieces you see are also from the Collection, and the lace is Webster's Pages.

The next layout is a bit more Contemporary in it's style:

I used this black and cream striped paper from my stash, and to add a little pop of color - I used more of the Moulin Rouge paper in this layout as well. I also used a Bingo Board from a Tattered Angels set for behind the upper left photo - and the flowers and spray are from Prima.

"Girlfriend" Card

Hello again!

I am super excited today because tomorrow I am going to a Scrapbooking Retreat for the weekend! I'm super excited because this is my time to "get-away" and have some special time with my sister, plus we have alot of friends and extended family that will be there as well! I didn't think I was going to make it this year, but my husband surprised me a couple days ago and he arranged for me to go... Isn't he just the cutest??

So today before I go, I just wanted to share a little cardmaking project with you. I have been hoarding this K&Company "Jubilee" paper collection for some time now, and I really wanted to start using it. So this pretty card was the result!

The base is 5x10 Recollections cream colored cardstock that I folded in half to make a 5x5 square. The inside squares measure: 4 3/4 x 4 3/4, 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 and the smallest square is 3 1/4, 3 1/4. Each of the squares has a black cardstock matting that measures 1/8 inch larger to give you a 1/16 border, this really makes your patterned paper pop!

The flowers are Recollections and Iamroses, and the trim is from Joann's.

Scrapbooking Tutorial: "Brag Book"

I hope you are all having a great week! :-)

So if you haven't noticed a trend yet in my posts and tutorials.... I am a mini-album-aholic! When I think of scrapbooking - that's where my mind first goes - to the mini! I love doing layouts, altered art, etc. But my passion is really for these fun little books.... I could do a whole blog post just on how I ♥ mini albums!

But today I will just share my newest little project - a Mini Album "Brag Book" for all you parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles.... anyone who wants to show off pics of the little cuties in your life!

This little mini is a chipboard wrapped cover, that measures, when closed, about 4 1/2 x 5 1/2. The paper I used for the entire album is from the K & Company "Watercolor Bouquet" collection.... gorgeous, shabby chic papers!

I used some beautiful Prima lace and flowers on my cover, as well as some bling, and a Tattered Angels chip frame, that I left open at the top to add a photo.

On the inside of this little mini... you will find 2 accordian style fold out pages, with pockets and space for 10 tags with photos (you could even do 20 photos if you use the back of the tags) that are matted to perfectly fit your wallet (2 1/2 x 3 1/2) size photos. So this little book provides tons of room for pics... which is what scrapbooking is all about, right?

The reason I made the tags in pockets, instead of gluing them down to the pages, is I wanted the versatility of switching around your pictures, so you can change out what picture you have on the front pages and mix it up a little!

Birdcage Mini Album - Scrapbooking Album

The subject of today's post and project is this bird and birdcage that I painted and embellished quite some time ago, yet never had a project to add it to... well I came across this sweet little thing last night while playing in my scrap-room and decided that it was time to showcase this cute little bird!

So in the spirit of summer, I made this very bright, colorful mini album with lots of pretty flowers and lace. I used the Prima, Fairy Flora journaling tags as my pages, and glimmered the backs and added the patterned paper from the collection to make some big photo mats.

The interior pages are very simple, with plenty of room left for pictures and journaling.

Acrylic on Canvas - "Cherry Blossoms"

I don't know what got into me this weekend, but I sat down at my scrapbooking desk and said, "I feel like painting!" Now please know that I am not a "painter"... in fact, I feel as though I can barely scribble a smiley face, yet I somehow felt compelled to paint... on canvas... with real paint... and no "numbers" to tell me where to put which color...

So that being said, here is what I came up with:

There you have it, a "cute" little painting inspired by one of the most beautiful trees - the Cherry Blossom!

Now that I painstakingly shared this with you - I will go back to my scrapbook desk and do what I am good at! But I still secretly wish that I was a "painter" and I will keep trying... secretly.

Simple "Thank You" Note Cards

Good Morning,
I don't have any major scrapbooking projects to share with you this week... yet... but I just wanted to say hello, and tell you about my scrappy-skype-date with my sister that I had last night!

We live about 4 hours away from each other - so we love to jump on Skype and have a gab and scrappin' session every once in awhile. So my sweet husband cleaned up the dinner dishes for me so that I could spend the evening with my sis!

There was alot of talking.... and a little bit of scrappin'.... I worked on a few thank you cards that I needed to send out this week, and she worked on her junk journal. It was so much fun, and cured my homesickness for my wonderful big sister... for the moment at least.

I used some K&Company paper lines for these cards, mainly the "Watercolor Bouquet". Aren't these papers just so sweet and pretty? I just love them! I didn't do a lot of embellishing besides the lace because I just needed some simple cards that I could easily send in the mail.

Vintage Junk Journal

Good Morning and TGIF everyone!

Today's project is a "Junk Journal". I know everyone is crazy about the new K & Company "Smash" books, but I have to tell ya, it is so much more fun to make your own!

I didn't have much of a "plan" when I first started, just began pulling paper that I love from my stash... but in the process, this journal turned into this vintage, almost antique looking book that I really love!

I used Chipboard for my covers, and the book measures 6" x 9". The flower on the front is a Prima and the leaves as well. I used a Melissa Frances keyhole and some lace from my stash.

The paper collection is mainly the Prima "Moulin Rouge" collection, but there is some K&Company "Life's Stories" papers, antique book pages, lined notebook paper and kraft journaling paper and lots of pockets, tags and photo mats.

I love how I didn't have to touch the antique book page with my distress inks - they are "naturally" distressed.

A "Pretty" Simple Card

I was looking through my stash of cards yesterday, looking for something pretty... for someone pretty... and I came across this card I made forever ago, and I remembered how much I love this simple design!

I really enjoy the different size strips in the background, and how the papers aren't super matchy-matchy but they really "go" together.

So before I mailed it out, I wanted to quickly add the design to my sketch book so that I wouldn't forget this fun design... and of course in the process I was inspired to create a new card using the design.

I found some pretty paper in my stash - the background is a black glitter cardstock that is so cool, and I love the punch of black, it really makes the fuschia stand out. I also added the simple bow to the one side. This came together in NO time, I just love it! (I'm all about simple... ya know?)

Dimensions:

I used a Card Base that measures 5 1/2 x 4 inches when closed. If you are making your own, just cut a piece of Cardstock down to 5 1/2 by 8 inches and score the long side at 4 inches.

Black piece: 5 1/4 x 3 3/4

First strip (smallest): 1 x 3 1/2

Second Strip: 1 1/2 x 3 1/2

Third Strip: 2 1/4 x 3 1/2

This is a fun and fast card to make! I hope you try it out!

"Mini" Pocket Albums - 2 Styles

Hello!

I hope everyone is having a great week so far! Mine has been consumed with this silly video - I actually filmed this 3 times... but I think I finally got it... I'm really not a perfectionist, I just thought that you may want me to be in frame as I explained how to do this. :-)

This is yet another... (yes, I realize I'm borderline addiction here) pocket album. They are just so fun and fast to make, I can't help myself.

This pocket page came about while I was working on my Junk Journal, I was making your standard pockets, no big deal, but I kept thinking that I wanted some pockets that wouldn't interfere with the binding of my book, so I made a couple pockets this way for my journal, and quickly decided that these would make a really fun and fast mini album. So I based the size of each pocket to fit the #5 Shipping Tags by Avery that you can buy at your local office supply store, so this made them truly "mini" albums.... they are so tiny.

I ended up making 2 different styles for my junk journal - so

I decided to show both ways in the tutorial as well.

This is the top-loading pocket style, and it measures 3 x 4 1/2 inches. I only used 2 sheets of 12 x 12 cardstock to make the 6 pocket pages, and some scraps from the Prima Annalee collection to cover the pages.

This is the side-loading pocket page, and again uses 2 - 12 x 12 sheets of cardstock, I chose a Kraft cardstock for this album, and it ties in really well with the K&Company, Amy Butler paper. This is an older collection but I still love this paper!

Friday Fun - Volume 1

Hello again!!

First of all, I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to all of you who are responding to my latest tutorial videos!! I can't even begin to express my appreciation for your kind words and comments! I don't always get to respond to every comment, but I definitely read and appreciate every single one. Thank you so much!

So for today's post I wanted to change it up a bit.... and since I know I don't get very personal here on my blog... I thought an "about Marla" type post might be just the change of pace I'm looking for... :-)

I think this will be fun, and may even become a regular blog segment... so let's get started!

1) Where do you live?

I live in Colorado.

2) Do you have a 'significant other'?

Yes! I have been married for 6 years, to my sweet and wonderful husband, Greg. (Fun fact: Greg is actually 4 years younger than me! But you would never know it... I'm not sure if that's because he acts old... or I act young...LOL)

3) Do you have any children?

Yes! We have a very precious little boy named Gavin! He is turning 3 in August. He has completely turned my life upside down.... and I love it!

Now we got the basics out of the way.... here are the fun questions:

4) What book can you read over and over?

The Bible! I know that probably sounds cliche' but it truly is the most beneficial book!

5) What is your favorite cereal?

I think it would be a tie between Apple Jacks and Fruit Loops (super healthy, right?)

6) What are you listening to right now?

When I'm at the computer or when I'm scrappin' I listen to itunes alot... my fav right now is"Safety Dance" The Glee Cast version, on itunes... This is such a fun song... all you "gleeks" out there will know what I'm talkin' about!

7) What is your favorite food?

SUSHI!!!! I don't know what it is... but I could literally eat sushi every day of my life!

I think that's all I'll do for today - Greg is getting off work early and we are going to take Gavin swimming at "the big pool", as he likes to call it! :-)

And just for the fun of it.... here is a pic of me and my ginormous turkey leg from the Renaissance Festival this weekend! LOL! ....you should have seen Gavin eating it... it was bigger than he was... :-)

Prima's Summer 2011 CHA Release - Collection Overview and Review

I have to admit, I was on the edge of my seat watching the Prima blog every day as they teased us with their new collections for the Summer CHA release! This little re-cap and review for you is for just the paper collections, let's face it... the flowers are always pretty fabulous.

I was very happy to see that they are returning this release with their 6x6 paper pads, they are also returning with the A4 paper pad that was introduced with their last release, as well as a new 8x8 size pad.

To get started, here are the 6 new collections we will be discussing:

Printery

Romantique

Londonerry

Alla Prima

Pixie Glen

North Country

I will start with my favorite of the bunch – the Printery collection. If you are a fan of old victorian style vintage, then you will love this just as I do! There's not much color to the collection, as it is mainly in blacks and tans, but I think that just adds to the elegance of the papers. It is a very beautiful and chic paper line, and I don't think it will disappoint.

The Romantique collection speaks for itself, it has a very strong romantic feel to it. I believe the paper was designed to remind you of fine china, and it really does. It is a very pretty line, that will definitely speak to a lot of scrappers out there, especially those who love to add lots of flowers to their layouts and albums. (If you enjoyed the Annalee collection from a previous release, I think you will love this one as well. One of the papers has a very heavy floral design similar to one from Annalee)

The Londonerry collection is another personal fav of mine. It has a vintage playtime theme to it using muted primary colors. Perfect for those kiddo layouts... which may be the very reason I love it so much.

The Alla Prima is the stand-out summer collection. It uses very bright yellow and turquoise shades to create a very happy, bright and flowery selection of papers. I really enjoy this one, but if you are a die-hard vintage lover, I'm afraid this one is not for you.

My two least favorite (just my personal preference) are the Pixie Glen and the North Country collections. The Pixie Glen uses soft pastels in blues and pinks, and has that fairy, pixie theme to it. It comes across as a little bland for me personally. The North Country is a pretty typical Christmas paper collection, the colors are bright blues and reds and the patterns are very modern in their feel.

There you go, those are my thoughts and reviews on the new collections. Overall, I am very excited as I think there are some definite loves within these collections that I know I will really enjoy creating with!

Daisy Card using a Fun Chalking Technique

"Aren't daisies just the friendliest flower?" This is the movie line I think of whenever I see a daisy! And it's SO true! They really are a "friendly", happy flower! I just love them!

This simple card was made with some My Mind's Eye patterned paper - and a fun Daisy Stamp by Hampton Arts that I colored with pastel chalks and then topped off with some Diamond Stickles! If you'd like the detail of how I put this together, click here for the video.

Art Journal Page: "Enjoy the Journey"

I know I have been neglecting my blog lately, and I am bit behind right now.... I've been trying to post more videos and I'm trying to figure out how to fit in the posts here as well... if only there were more hours in the day!

Today's post is of an art journal page I did over a week ago. I have been doing alot of mini albums and tutorials - so I wanted to take a little break from that and just play!

I started with book-pages that I tore and glued down to my cardstock. I then did some distressing on the book-page with Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Brushed Corduroy and Walnut Stain. Then I glimmered the you-know-what out of it with Olive Vine and Viva Pink Glimmer Mists by Tattered Angels. I love that color combo!

As you see in this pic - I did some stenciling using an old lace placemat (that my sister gave me for this very purpose, she's way more "techniquey" than I am, so I have to steal her ideas!) I love the cool, almost tattoo'd effect it gives the page!

I also did some stamping on the background with a Clear Art Stamp Set called "Sew Special". I used Black Staz On ink for the stamping.

I then added this cool Prima flower vine that I grunged up a bit with Bronze Glimmer Mist and more of the Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.

The title stamp is a Tim Holtz, from his acrylic stamp set, I believe it's called "The Journey". I also grunged and glimmered the title to fit the rest of the page. If you'd like to see the video of me making the page - click here!

A Mini Album.... A Tutorial....and A Spiderman

Good Morning!

I can't believe how fast this summer is flying by! We had a fun weekend, especially fun for Gavin as we saw a movie in the park one night (Tangled, he calls it the "princess movie") and we had a Kids Party on Saturday afternoon. Gavin decided to get his face painted as Spiderman, it was very cute! (Notice the cool Spidey stance in the pic)

But also this weekend, I started working on another pocket page tutorial that I want to share with you today! I am having so much fun with these pocket pages, I just love the simplicity of taking a few sheets of 12x12 cardstock and making an entire album in about an hour's time!

So today's tutorial is in video form again. The page is approximately 6 1/2" x 5". The page itself is a top-loading pocket, and has two side loading pockets on the front and back of the page.

The paper line I used was from Prima's "Madeline" collection. I think I may have to order more of this paper, it is just SO cute!

Websters Pages Mini Album

Hi there!

As I mentioned in my previous blog post, I had a fun-filled weekend with my sister! We attended a family baby shower on Saturday that was so much fun. So today I wanted to show you the cute little mini album that I made for the "baby-of-honor". :-)

I used all Webster's Pages paper (primarily from the "Hollywood Vogue" line) and tons of lace and flowers to make this super girly, shabby chic mini.

Tutorial: Multi-Pocket Page for Mini Albums

Hello again!

It's Thursday and I'm getting ready for a fun weekend, my sister is coming in from out of town and I have 2 baby showers to attend! Whew!

So I wanted to get this tutorial up before things got too crazy around here :-)

This little pocket page is a super cute addition to your mini albums. It measures about 4 1/2 x 5 and has lots of room for photo mats and tags.

"Zoo Baby" 12x12 Layout

What's In Your Vintage Purse?

I hope you are all enjoying the warm weather and summer sun!! I know I am :-)

This month, I was able to participate in a Swap hosted by a fellow youtuber and blogger, Bona. She called it, "What's in Your Vintage Purse", and the idea is to alter a wooden box and fill it with 10 handmade items of your choice.

My swap partner, Amy was awesome and super accomodating to me, and even gave me an extension on my box (thank you so much!!), I really hope you love your "vintage purse", Amy!! I had a great time swapping with you!

Kids Art Book

Hi there!!

So about a year ago, I had blogged about an art book that I made for my (then one and a half year old) son Gavin. Over this past year, we have taken that little book almost everywhere we go. It is now packed full of doodles, drawings and scribbles. I've taken off the binding off at least twice to add more drawing paper, but the time has come for a new book!

This one is the same size, 6x7, and has wrapped chipboard covers. I used some cute dinosaur paper from The Paper Studio and printed off some "artsy" words on my computer for the cover. The inside is full of drawing paper and construction paper, and he's already started scribbling all over this one!

This is such a cool project because I know I'm making a fun and creative toy for my son, and it becomes a special keepsake for me as well!

Oh yeah, and when Gavin asked what I was making, I said, "I'm making your new art book", but he thought I said "heart book", and that's what he's called it ever since... LOL! :-)

So I totally recommend anyone to make this fun "heart book" er, I mean art book for the special kiddos in your life!

"My Guys" Paper Bag Mini Album

This is a paper bag album using My Mind's Eye paper along with tons of Tim Holtz embellies. The result is a more masculine looking album, that is just perfect for my boys.

Spring Blooms!

Even though it is snowing again today.... I was so excited this week when I noticed my tulips have started blooming! I just love the spring when everything starts turning green and flowers start blooming.

Anniversary Cards

Hello Everyone!!

I am such a bum! I can't believe how long it has been since I have posted... Yikes! But I am back, spring is here, and I am super inspired and making lots of projects.

So I decided that I need to stop hoarding my Prima Pastiche paper and start using my stash! I love love love this paper line! This is an Anniversary Card, with some Prima flowers and leaves, antique book page and some rhinestone bling flourishes. The lace is Prima as well, but I altered it using Tattered Leather Glimmer Mist.

The card below is made with Prima's Shabby Chic paper line, Recollection flowers and Prima pearls. There is a special difference with this card though.... I decorated the envelope instead of the actual card. Kind of a fun change-up to my usual and I may do this alot more in the future!

Distressed Pocket Mini Album

Hello Everyone! I hope you are all having a great week so far! :-)

We are getting ready for a nice long weekend at our family cabin in the mountains! I am soooo looking forward to some downtime with my husband and son. There's nothing better in the winter time than being locked away in a cozy cabin in the mountains with your loved ones! And of course I will be bringing some scrappin' goodies to play with!

What I wanted to share with you all is this distressed album that I've recently made and did a YT video for it, but I hadn't yet posted the pics here for you.

The front and back covers are grungeboard that I distressed and glimmer misted to get this super grungy-distressed look.

The interior pages are pockets that I made myself from Kraft Cardstock. They measure 5x6 and are distressed by wrinkling the pocket up, flattening it out again, and then running your Distress Ink pad directly over the top to hit the high points. I then glimmer misted over that to get the desired color for each page and then once dry, I ironed the pockets flat again.

I may not be blonde.... but I still have fun!!!

Ok.... so I have been dying my hair this reddish/brown color for almost a year now, and I'm finally posting a picture of the "new me". I'm not exactly sure what took me so long, except that I think that I've been in some sort of denial about not being a blonde.... silly, I know! :-)

On another more "scrappy" note... I was looking through some pics on my computer and came across these little gems....

I have to say that this is pretty much what I experience during each and every project that I work on. But as messy as it may seem, for some reason this is my creative process... and since I enjoy the process as well as the results stemming from this apparant disaster... Hollywood Vogue "Joli Bebe" Mini Album

Hello my scrappy friends!

So I have just a few wonderful words for you: Webster's Pages - Hollywood Vogue!

If you have even an inkling towards old hollywood glam or anything vintage, then you will absolutely fall in love with this paper collection like I have!!

When a friend of mine called me yesterday saying, "do you have anything made already that would work for a baby shower" (the next day...today), I immediately thought of this paper collection and said "not really, but I have something in mind that would be perfect"! Especially when she told me it didn't have to be "baby-ish" and that her room is decorated with a French theme.... perfect!

This was quite the feat to tackle in less than 24 hours (I did sleep.... a little), but I loved working with this paper line and had fun in the process!

Lime Rickey "Play" Mini Album

Me again!

I mentioned the Scrappy Retreat I was able to go to a couple weekends ago, and here is another project I did while there.

This album was so much fun to do because of the bright colors and the little cuties in the pictures! I used the "Lime Rickey" paper collection from Basic Grey from the 6x6 paper pad.

The pics are all of a "play date" my son Gavin had with his cousin Autumn, they are only 4 months apart and love to play together.

The album is a cute 5x5 and is bright, colorful and fun!

The colors in this album were so much fun to work with, and I loved doing this project!

Scrapbooking Retreat and Webster's Pages Layout

Hello everyone!

So.... last weekend I left the hubby and baby boy home to fend for themselves while I went to a scrapbooking retreat with about 50 of my scrappy friends! This is something I do every year and it is so much fun! To be able to spend time with great friends and create.... it doesn't get much better than that!

I was able to do a few little projects that I will be sharing with you over the next week or so.

I'll start with a layout of my "preggo-days" (check out that baby bump!!) I used Webster's Pages "Postcards from Paris" paper collection - one of my favs! And tons of flowers and distressing... as usual! :-)

Altered Frame for My Sister!

Hello again!!

So about a month ago I posted an altered frame that I had made using the Le Romantique paper collection from G45. My sister Bonnie saw the project and said "I want one", and I kind of laughed and nodded and she looked at me ever so seriously and said, "No, I really want one". LOL! So since their 24th Anniversary was right around the corner, I decided to make one for them as an anniversary gift.

I began this project intending to make it fairly identical to the first one I had made, but as boredom is a real problem with me, I couldn't quite bring myself to do that, I just had to try something different!

So I did use this piece of G45 paper, and tried a rolled paper technique I learned from Marion Smith. It is such a gorgeous technique and I've been dying to use this on a project. I think you will see this technique popping up all over the place in the future of this blog, I just love it!

So.... a couple techniques, some gorgeous Prima flowers and a little Tim Holtz later, you get a pretty little frame that didn't take much time at all!

Don't forget the bling and buttons! No project is complete without them!

Baroque Mini Album

Hello again!

Today I am sharing with you all what I like to call a "mini" Mini. This little guy is made from the Tim Holtz Sizzix "Baroque" die, and it measures about 41/2" x 5" at it's tallest and widest points.... it makes such a cute little mini - and comes together very fast... as you all know, I am all about fast projects lately!

The paper line is "Cappella" by Basic Grey - and I am LOVIN' this paper collection! SO pretty! The cover has Webster's Pages Lace and Prima flowers. The title is by Tattered Angels and I just used Irradescent Gold GM to give it some sparkle. The super cute little stick pin is by Jenni Bowlin.

I loved making this album - don't tell anyone but I had begun getting a little bored with mini's, so I'm super happy to say that my mini-makin' passion has returned!!!

Mini Album Brag Book

Hey everyone! I have a special project to share with you - a gift for my mom! This little mini book is packed full of pictures of my son and hubby and I. I thought I'd give you a little peak at the finished product!

I wanted to do a different style binding - I wanted this to look like a hardbound book, so I did a wrapped cover with lots of pages inside.

The more embellies I added, the chubbier the book got, so I added this ribbon to help keep it closed. I know, I know... probably too many embellies, but I just can't help myself! :-)

Here are just a few of the pages, I kept the inside pretty simple - just highlighting all the family photo's! I will try to do a tutorial on this binding soon on youtube.

Le Romantique Altered Frame

Hello again! Here's another scrappy project - I'm on a roll this week!

This is an altered photo frame that is so vintagy and distressed!! It was fun doing something a little different - a home decor project. This was an engagement picture of my hubby and I - taken about 5 years ago, so of course the theme is love love love! ♥♥♥

This photo frame was a raw wood, before I painted it black and added some to die for G45 paper. I tore all of the edges and distressed it all up with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Here you will see the "Camelot" and "Fairytale" roses from Prima, a Tim Holtz bookplate and word key as well as a vintage button and beautiful crocheted lace. The tag of the man and woman dancing is from the Le Romantique paper collection as well as the title piece.

It was so much fun doing something of just my hubby and me. It's so fun to do projects with older photos and remember those special times!

Self Standing Journal

So.... have I mentioned how much I love quick and easy projects??!? That seems to be what I'm all about lately. As much as I love mini albums, they are kind of a big project and I tend to get bored with them before I'm finished. I still love the mini's... don't get me wrong, but I have to say that I get such a sense of accomplishment from sitting down at my desk and "whipping up" a little something in just a few minutes time!

This little journal is meant to stand upright on my desk. I can use it for notes, sketches, or just to practice with a certain stamp or glimmer mist I'm using.... And it's such a cute little size, just 4 1/4 x 4 1/2, with the inside pages measuring 4x4.

I used some Prima paper from the "Pastiche" line, as well as Prima flowers and pearls. The lace is a by the yard lace from Joann's. I bound it with my bind-it-all using the 1" wire. The little metal piece is a "Philosopy Tag" from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology line.

The back page is more from the same paper line, and you can see how it stands on it's own.

Super Easy 12x12 Layout!

Hello again!

This is probably one of the easiest layouts I have ever done.... seriously! As you can see, it's just one 12x12 patterned paper, some acrylic paint for the background and some simple ribbon and flower embellishments. I think it turned out pretty cute... but I may be a little biased because of the most adorable baby boy in the photo!! :-)

This was so much fun and I'm definitely going to be doing more with paint on my projects. It adds a fun touch and it's very easy to do!

I have a few more projects I'll be showing you this week... a mini album that is almost complete and a few other little goodies! ...so stay tuned :-)

I ♥ Graphic 45!!

Hello again!

Things have been crazy busy around here, but I have been doing some "playing" with some Graphic 45 paper. I can't seem to get enough of it right now.

This altered mini composition book is such a fast and fun project! I used the Le Romantique paper from G45..... Love it!

The flower is a prima (of couse!), the Tea Roses in the Santa Rosa pack. They are so gorgeous with the glittered pedals! I also used a vintage style button and more of the Le Romantique paper to embellish the corner and make the title.

This Anniversary Card is using the Graphic 45 Times Nouveau Collection. I distressed it up like crazy and added a layered flower for the finishing touch.

Here's another card using the Le Romantique paper collection again! It is so pretty and it gives such a romantic flair that is just perfect for an Anniversary Card.

Smaller projects like these are so much fun, and take hardly any time at all!!

Mommy Journal

Hello everyone!

I wanted to share my latest project with you all! I have kept a journal in the past of all the major stuff that has happened to my son... all the "firsts". But I wanted something specifically for "Mommy thoughts", or special stories or just to remember the basic things that happen everyday that are truly treasures.

This is a simple 5x7 book, and I used the Mariposa paper again from DCWV, I love this paper line! For the cover I used the Ornate Bookplate from Tim Holtz, as well as Prima lace and flowers.

The inside pages are a combination of Mariposa paper, cardstock and a 2 sided pocket page that I made to fit the book.

I've already started writing in this - and I know this will be something special to keep! As my son gets older, I will love looking back at his toddler period and remember all the things he did and how I felt!

Silly Sweetheart

Here is a layout of my adorable niece Autumn. She has the cutest little faces and expressions, so I just had to use this silly picture of her for this totally girly layout! What a cutie!! :-)

I used Prima and My Mind's Eye paper, Thickers and K&Company for the Title and a Tattered Angels Glimmer Chip piece for the flourish. Top it off with lots of Prima flowers and pearls and you have a cute little layout that comes together very quickly.

"Dream" Mini Journal

This super cute little book measures about 4x6 and can be a journal, art journal or a mini book for photos. I used the absolutely gorgeous DCWV Mariposa paper line, and lots of Prima goodies for the cover! The inside pages are heavy duty cardstock, just waiting to be filled with sketches, poems, recipes or pics! Can't wait to fill it up on my whim!

Such a fun little project, and it didn't take long at all! I will try to post a tutorial on this soon.

Butterfly Hanging - for My Niece

This may look familiar to you because a couple weeks ago I made one of these for my craft room. Well, last weekend my sister-in-law saw mine and requested one for her daughter's bedroom. I let my SIL pick out the paper she wanted, and I think the heart and stripey paper is a perfect combo. I love the addition of lace around the edge... and the big Prima Cancan fabric flower is a fun touch..... so cute I just might have to make another one for myself!!

Pastiche 12x12 Layout

Hello again! 2 posts in 2 days... can you believe it?!?

I've been dying to use my new Pastiche paper... I love this line from Prima! I was planning on doing a mini with it, and I still will - but I thought a layout would be a fun way to play with the paper and I could finish it fairly quickly.

This is a photo of my husband and I holding our son's feet when he was just 3 weeks old.... he's so tiny, I can't believe how fast the time goes!

This is pretty much an all Prima layout. The paper, flowers, leaves, bling and journaling spot are all Prima. I even used some of the packaging from one of my flower packs because it goes perfectly with the paper! I distressed just a little with Vintage Photo, and the green leaves were misted with Olive Vine Tattered Angels.

This was fun! Everytime I do a layout I remember how much I enjoy them.

Butterfly Wall Hanging

Hello again!! So things have been a bit crazy around here as we just moved last weekend. But I still managed to find some play-time in my new scrap-room to make this fun butterfly project!

I've been wanting to do a wall hanging for awhile, and as soon as I realized that I had this butterfly chipboard die cut, I couldn't wait to try it! I used the gorgeous Shabby Chic paper line from Prima and distressed the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I also used the Camelot Roses and Mini Roses, as well as the Say it in Pearls flourishes. The lace behind the butterfly was misted with Creme de Chocolat Tattered Angels to give it more of an aged look.

This was so much fun to do and it's so pretty hanging in my craft room!

K&Company + Tattered Angels + Prima = LOVE!!

So... I was feeling kind of artsy.... more artsy than usual? Hmmm... not really, but artsy nonetheless. :-) For this mini I used this gorgeous K&Company "Black and Ivory Fusion" paper so that I could glimmer mist to my heart's content! There wasn't a single page that went "un-misted", or a single flower for that matter!

I have been wanting to try this binding technique since I saw it on the "Live with Prima" Ustream show with Marion Smith. (click here to watch Marion's binding technique)

I first covered the chipboard covers and spine with designer paper, and then made 5 signatures for the inside pages (4 pages each). Each signature was attached with ribbon to a single strip of cardstock that I glued down to the spine. This album came together fairly quickly (despite the multitude of pages) and I will definitely do another one of these soon!

Graphic 45 Storage Box

This was a super fun project I made this week! I followed the instructions from Laura Dennison. She made this cute little box-caddy on one of her Ustream shows, and it was such a quick and simple project, I just couldn't resist.

I used some of my favorite paper from the Graphic 45 "Fashionista" line. The flowers, bling and lace are Prima, and the handle is made with the Tattered Angels chip frame that I glimmer misted and distressed.

The completed box measures about 6x6, and it's actually pretty sturdy, so it's definitely functional for some of your scrappin' storage items like, flowers, ribbon, bling... or lace and pearls as I have chosen.... I love having this on my desk, it's so pretty! :-)

Art is not just for us "Grown-ups"

I made this little "Art" book for my son to use at his whim to draw, paint, scribble, sticker or toss around. I filled it with tons of drawing paper and patterned cardstock.

If you look closely - you'll see two little holes in the "art" title that are strangely without eylets. I guess eyelets just don't stand a chance against the rough and tumble lifestyle of a 1 1/2 year old. (I just hope he didn't eat them) :-)

And of course, what kind of mother would I be if I didn't proudly show off his genius artistic talent!!

This came together very quickly and my son actually loves it! I keep it on the coffee table with some crayons nearby so he can grab it anytime he wants and draw to his little hearts content! I think this type of book will be a staple in our house as he grows. :-)

Madeline Mini Album - For My Sister!!

So this mini is very special to me because it was made for my sister, Bonnie! She is the very person who got me interested in scrappin' in the first place, and thank goodness she did, because I am officially an addict now :-) And... she may just be my only blog reader, (and commenter) lol, but that's what big sister's are for, right?

So about 3 months ago (yikes...time flies!) we decided to do a mini album swap between the two of us. Bonnie, the amazingly organized, totally together and wonderful person that she is, sent me my mini well over a month ago. And she's probably just receiving hers in the mail today. (sorry, sis!) So here it is - with all of it's sparkly, lacey, pink goodness... just for you, Bon!! :-)

Next to my husband, my sister has truly been the most supportive, wonderful encouragement to me as I've been on this scrappy journey!! She always builds me up and motivates me, and her amazing creative talent is always such an inspiration to me. We've always been very very close (despite our 13 year age difference) but I love how this passion for scrappin' has brought us even closer and it's just one more thing we can do together!! Love ya, sis!!

"Special Moment" 12x12 Layout

Yesterday I finally finished a mini album that I made for my sister (I'll show you the pics in a couple days) and I wanted to do a little something that would be quick and that I could finish easily. So I decided on a layout.

I was digging through my stash and found these papers from the Cosmo Cricket "Everafter" line. I happen to love oranges and browns so I've been wanting to use this paper for quite awhile! The flowers are primas - most of which I glimmer misted with "Tiger Lilly", "Creme de Chocolat" and "Wheatfields". The center flower is also a Prima from an Artistry tin. I distressed using Vintage Photo distress ink.

The pretty flourish along the bottom is a Prima "Voila" felt embellishment. I've had this for a long time, and I was excited to finally have a project that it worked so well on. The picture corner is a Tattered Angels chip piece that I glimmered and distressed.

I had alot of fun on this! I've been in such a mini album mood lately, that I forgot how fun it is to do a simple layout. Especially since I have a hard time finishing things, and I have about 3 mini albums up in the air right now. So I really needed that sense of accomplishment by starting and finishing a project in just a couple hours time! :-)

Anniversary Card

My Brother and Sister-in-laws's 20th Anniversary was last week!! So I wanted to make a special card for the occasion. I used the Mariposa Paper and Glimmer Misted some white Prima's for the cover using Wheatfields, English Ivy, Cream de Chocolat and Irridescent Gold. The sentiment was embossed with Gold Tinsel embossing powder. I had alot of fun throwing this together!! :-)

Hopefully my sis-in-law won't notice that I glued the fluer-de-lis paper down sideways... LOL! :-)

Tag Swap

My sister Bonnie and I just recently hosted a tag swap with some friends of ours. There were nine of us participating, so we each made 10 identical tags. (9 to give out and 1 to keep for ourselves) We left the theme open for everyone to express their own creativity. But we did ask that everyone do some sort of distressing on their tags. It was so exciting to see everyone's art and I can't wait to do it again!

Here is my tag - I used Jenni Bowlin paper and the flower is a Prima. I distressed all of the paper with Tim Holtz "Vintage Photo" and "Antique Linen" distress inks. I printed the sheet music and tore and distressed the edges.

The quote is my own - music is my first passion and scrappin is a close second! So I wanted to incorporate both into my tag.

My sister's tag "The Hummingbird" was completely brilliant! She used quite a few techniques on this tag, embossing, glimmer mist and masking. The result was this gorgeous plum tag that was personalized for each one of us! She made a smaller tag insert that had each of our names and their meanings on the tag. I was totally blown away by her creativity!! (It's funny to me too how similar we are - we both incorporated a quote of some sort and music) lol!

Here are all of the beautiful tags, I wish I had time to go through and brag on each one! I had such a fun time with this project and I hope to do it again soon! :-) Thank you to everyone who participated!!

"Shabby Chic" Mini Album

So here's my little Shabby Chic Album that I threw together in the past couple days... I've been working so hard lately doing mini albums either as gifts or custom orders, and I haven't done anything just for me... so this one's for me!!! :-)

I had a bunch of scrap white cardstock from another project I'm working on, and so I decided to trim them down to 3 1/2 x 6 and grunge them up like crazy! I inked all the edges and glimmer misted each side and used several different stamps as well. I love how it gave the paper a real weathered, wrinkled kind of look! Then I just used lots of lace and big flowers and K&Company paper and here you go! I am really happy about how it turned out and I hope you all enjoy it too! :-)

Flowers Flowers Flowers!!

So I've been playing around with some flower embellishments to use on layouts or mini's... I've been having so much fun with these and I wanted to share what I have so far...

This is a 3 Petal Black Satin flower that I layered and attached it all together by sewing the 3 pearl beads into the center. This is a gorgeous, shiny very vintagy looking flower. You can add more layers and more beads for a fuller look if you prefer.

These are a 3 petal paper flower made from packing paper. I cut 3 circles of different sizes and colored them with "Sapphire" glimmer mist by Tattered Angels. The edges are lined with "Silver" Stickles and I put a big gem in the center of each one.

This is a 3 Petal flower that I first stamped with a french handwriting stamp and then colored with "Tattered Leather" Glimmer Mist and lined the edges with "Gold" Stickles. The flower center is a huge brown gem.

Hope you got some ideas and inspiration from these - there are so many variations with colors and stamping... Great, fun project! Let me know if you want a more step by step tutorial!

Product Review: Scotch ATG 714 Adhesive Applicator Gun

36 yards of adhesive in 4 days!!! I guess I really needed this tape dispenser! :-)

So... I had been going through so much adhesive that it was getting very very expensive, so I took the plunge and bought this dispenser from Overstock.com (they had the best price, $53.90 and free shipping). The refill rolls of adhesive (36 yards!!!) run about $6-$7 depending on where you find them. So after the initial price for the gun, it's a really great deal on adhesive!!

It was a bit tricky loading it the first time, but now that I know what to do, I don't think it will be a problem in the future. (I finally had to watch a youtube video because the directions that come with it were not helping me) I really thought that it would be bulky and awkward to handle, but it's not! It's weighted very nicely and it's easy to see where you're at as you're applying the adhesive. As for the adhesive itself, it seems to stick very well, I am happy with that.

The only downside I can see is that the adhesive can bunch up fairly easily, so you just have to practice a little getting a "smooth stride" so to speak, so that when you lift up from the page the adhesive isn't pulling off from the roll and leaving a big glob on your project. This particular gun, only uses 1/4 inch adhesive, which may be a downside for some users, but for me this is what I'm used to and I don't mind the size.

Overall, I really love this, and I'm so happy to be saving so much on adhesive! It's worth the initial purchase price.

Custom Mini Album - Baby

I finished up my custom mini album last night! I'm really happy about how it turned out, and I hope you enjoy it too!!

It took me awhile to get some ideas going for this one, but once I got started it was alot of fun! I designed this around the little baby's nursery and her crib set, which was red, green, black and white. The crib set also had butterflies and dragonflies, so I tried to incorporate those as well. (Check out the super cute dragonfly charm on the binding!)

The album is a chipboard 6x6 with 6 pages. The black pattern papers are from American Crafts, I'm sorry, I didn't pay attention to what brand the others were. All of the flowers are Prima, as well as the big butterflies. The green flowers were glimmer misted with Olive Vine. I tried something totally new with the little booklet I made for the first page. It's just a 4 page journaling "book" that I bound together with ribbon. It was super easy and I am definitely going to have to incorporate this into my mini's more often. It's great for those who like to journal.

I have a new mini to show you. This is a love themed mini that I finished up last night. I used 2 paper pads from K& Company Amy Butler line. It's very glittery and shimmery!

Just wanted to share this cute little "brag book". I recently made one of these for my mother-in-law with pics of my son. (I learned this from a youtube user: "livelovescrap") It was so simple I decided to add these to my Etsy site.
